The Traces visualiser is a collaboration with visual artist Jackson Ducasse (Dua Lipa, John Legend, BLONDIE, JC Stewart, RITUAL) It was created from super 8 footage of he had shot and my phone footage, it was one of the first story telling elements of the Sound of Fractures world, bringing our personal moments along side the music.
“Traces is inspired by the way memories and experiences trigger your emotions. In particular, the way that the tiny moments are what stick with you most about a person when you are faced with losing them; The touch of a hand, a look, the air… these tiny traces of a moment that encapsulate all of your emotional connection.”
There’s a few of reasons for I wanted to put this out now, :
I was looking back through some of my music releases and notice that I’d done radio edits of most of the songs on the Real Friends EP partly to play into the Spotify algorithm which didn’t sit right with me looking back.
Music videos have always been an important part of the Sound of Fractures story, and there is so many of you that are new to my journey and I wanted to share some of the things that I have loved being a part of that you may not have seen before. I grew up loving music videos as a way to world build but also as an art form. There was a really special time where directors were bringing their creativity not to purely sell an artist, but to create art inspired by the music.
In the UK music videos are being beta tested on Spotify and i felt like the visual side of what I do hadn’t been told on their before and its something that sets me a part, so lets see if it works.. ill report back!
